Good Luck
Good luck to all Disney runners - have a great weekend - may all your half and full marathon dreams come true
Team Hendryx places coach on the DL
It is official - I am on the disable (unable to run) list. After several weeks of bitching about a slight pain in my knee I went to see a doctor and he diagnosed me with a Grade II sprain (probably a partial tear) of my MCL in my left knee. He gave me a brace to wear and told me that I was not allowed to run for 3-4 weeks. The 28th I can strap on the running shoes again and take to the trails.
I told the doctor that I have been running since the injury and that I have done 3 runs over 20 miles, that I am averaging 60-70 miles a week, that I had one of my best runs of the year on Tuesday night, and I had a 50 mile race in February. Some how - while the doctor was amazed I could still run relatively pain free - he held to his guns and is making me rest.
So, Rocky Raccoon is off and focus will be on getting better and then fast paced training for Du nationals. In the mean time I will spin, swim, pool jog, lift and work on core and stretching - in the long run the rest and relaxation might do me some good.
I took 24 hours to feel sorry for myself and now it is back to work. But, I sure do hate wearing this knee brace!

we will be there to cheer you on and support you throughout the year

...we will also make sure you cross the finish line - even with a little assistance
2009 training groups forming now - drop me a line and I will include you on our mailing list for upcoming training.
Can 39.3 miles in days be fun - or ever good for you?
the answer to both these questions is YES - when you are out on the course supporting runners trying to complete their first half or full marathon it makes the time pass by pretty quickly - and the 39.3 miles will come in handy for Ultra training.
Team Hendryx will be out on the Disney courses this weekend in support of all of our runners.
Team Burnham - many will be tackling their first half and full marathons - others will be going for PRs - there might even be some political VIPs out there on Saturday
Fleet Feet - most of our FF training group will be tackling the full marathon - they will be giving it their all on Sunday - other will be cruising through Miami and Phoenix in the next several weeks
Lake Buena Vista Runners - these guys are ready to roll - many new PRs will be coming from this group - lots of hard training is going to pay off this weekend.
Sean, Rene' and I will be on course Saturday and Sean and I will be on course Sunday - we will be in our Team Burnham gear but look for us and say hi as we cheer you on!
