Cool to have a coach

here is why it is cool to have a coach (and I have the best)- here is what my training week would look like without a coach

Mon - run
Tues - run
Weds - run
Thurs - day off - spin please
Fri - run
Sat - run long
Sun recovery run

next week - repeat prior week

with a coach - there has been some thought and planning put in to my training plan - I gave my coach 8 whole weeks notice that I wanted to run a 50 miler (I started at 100 but Sean talked me down from the ledge). Sean studied some stuff and determined my goals then put together a training plan - a plan that we discuss every week to see if tweaks need to be made.

last week when I told Sean I thought I was getting slow and felt sluggish he started to mix in some small speed work with my training. last night was one of those nights - the workout left me refreshed and feeling liked I flushed my legs out.

1.5 mile warm up, 800 (2:47), .5 miles off the track easy jog, 400 (1:21), 1 mile easy jog off the track, 800 (2:50), then to the baseball fields to do 12 seconds fast with 18 seconds recovery (on the nice grass outfield), 1 mile easy cool down.

Man that was a fun workout - left me refreshed for today's easy 6 miler (44:00) and for tomorrows 27 miler at the dirt road.

Hire a coach - it will pay off in the long run.

happy Training
