Here is my list of Top 5 sports movies of all time - this does not include documentaries.
1. American Flyers - come on - Kevin Costner as a bike rider - line of the movie "you're right, he does understand english" or "up Dave, up"
2. Prefontaine - I prefer this version with Billy Crudup versus the one with Jared Leto - probably could have combined the two and made a real good movie
3. Caddyshack - with the worst movie being Caddy Shack 2
4. Eight Men Out - say it aint so Joe - what a great story - too bad actors can not play ball.
5. Rocky - they should have never taken the Rocky statue down - you know it is a classic when you visit the art museum and people still run up the steps like Rock
this was a hard list - some honorable mentions were - Bull Durham, Bad News Bears (love Buttermaker), Slapshot, Hoosiers, Longest Yard (the original not the remake)and Breaking Away
what are your favorites

#1- Hoosiers...I watch this before a big race as I will always be the underdog!! (and I'm from good old Indy)
#2- Rocky- gotta agree with you on that one.
#3- Glory Road- do we sense a basketball theme here?
#4- Chariots of Fire, I really love Eric Liddel and his story.
Tie for 5th- Cool Runnings, just because it's fun AND then We Are Marshall- Matthew Fox & Matthew McConaughey in the same film? Take me now and it's just a gut-wrenching story.
Great list idea Bill!!!
I have to add "Invincible", and "Rudy" for sure.
And maybe even "Blades of Glory" and "The Cutting Edge" for good measure. :)
And... does "Million Dollar Baby" count?
