It was one year ago today (or there abouts) that I left the corporate world to pursue a passion for coaching and training. Well, Beth and I have survived year one and are looking forward to year two. The coaching business is going well - we are currently training 3 groups (150 runners) for Disney marathon (in 2007 we had about 15 athletes for Disney) - have 20 athletes heading to Miamiman to tackle the 1/2 Iron and Olympic Course - and have big plans for next year that will be announced shortly.
Now let's look at the company I left and what has happened to them since I left - the stock was trading at 27 when I arrived in 2001 and when I left in 2007 it was trading at 41 - it is now trading at 28.5 and heading down (ok, a lot of stocks are heading down but you make your own opinion)- the building and the parking lot used to be full - now it is half full and they are sub leasing space in the facility
The company I worked for before that has faced similar issues - when I arrived in 92the stock was trading at 10 - when I left in 2001 it was trading at 82 (and had split at least 2 times) a year after I left it was trading at 55 and is now trading at 5 - $70 billion is tax payer money ought to help them out though.
So this is not a rant on the corporate world but I am thankful not be in it at this time - would I go back - maybe, I never say never. Right now all of my focus is on Team Hendryx and growing our organization again in 2009.
Happy Training
