Long runs, Great weather, Good days

Here we are on Christmas Eve and waiting for Santa to come and bring us all the gifts we have been wanting and wishing for. I have a 10 miler today so I can get some miles in before eating too much tomorrow. However, this weekend still needs to be recapped.

Saturday was a 20 miler for the TH athletes doing Tampa and a 22 miler for athletes doing Disney. Saturday was the last long run for Disney athletes and now it is time for them to taper down to their race - Tampa athletes still have 2-3 more long runs before their race.

The weather was perfect on Saturday - it was in the mid 50s and overcast - perfect running weather. A little cold when the run was done but perfect for the run.

Vi cruised through her 22 miler without any issues or problems and she is ready to tackle the Disney course in January. All of the TNT participants performed well and made it through their 20-22 miler and all are ready for Disney.

Sean and I ran the first 10 of our 20 miler together then he picked it up to an even faster pace for the last 10. We ran the first 5 in 34:53 probably a good pace for Sean - a little fast for me. The second 5 was run in 33:42 - yes, we got faster some how and I thought I was trying to slow the pace down. However, I was feeling good at the half way mark. The third 5 was 34:24 for me and about 33:00 for Sean. Since we kept a brisk pace for the first 15 the last 5 was a little struggle for me - 35:11, but I can not complain about a 7:02 pace for the final five miles of a 20 miler. Sean ran his last 5 (with a bike escort) in 32:00. He is getting very strong for this marathon.

Overall is was a great run day - Sean finish about 2:15:00 and I finished about 2:20:00 - both of us ran a fast pace for the 20 miler than the 18 miler two weeks before so we are getting stronger which is nice.

Keep your fingers crossed that all goes well for the athletes as the marathons approach!
