I read an article the other day that the average person gains 15lbs (15!!!!!) from Halloween to New Years - well, it is almost New Years so where do you fall on that scale? I can see how this would happen - Halloween candy is a definite weakness of mine - I can (and usually do) eat candy corn until it causes an upset stomach for myself! Then there is the excuse of the holidays that keep you from working out and the fact that there are all these covered dish celebrations at work going on. Thanksgiving sneaks up on you like a truck and that requires eating for 4 days because we are off work for 4 days - the main meal takes place on Thursday then there are leftovers for the rest of the weekend.
More shopping, more office covered dish parties and enter the dreaded holiday party. You know you do not eat well at any party and then alcohol mixes in. What is next? Christmas dinner and a week long eating fest because a lot of people are off from work. Throw in New Years Eve where most people overindulge in alcohol and you are standing on the scale 1/1 and have increased your weight 15lbs - BUT do not worry - that is average!!.
No wonder gym memberships increase to the point where the regular member can not even get a parking space because of all you weight loss resolutioners. Of course, by March the gyms are all cleared out because you have decided 15lbs looks good on you, and I can get back to working out.
Good Luck to all of you in your weight loss challenges - I hope you can get back to your fighting weight - if you need help you can call me!
As a side note - my lovely wife has decided to get on a eating and workout regimen during this difficult time and she is down 10lbs in the last 4 weeks and is looking great - so she is really over 25lbs ahead of the general public!!
Happy New Year to all.
