ok - now Idol is getting it - singing the most influential rock songs decided by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (who the hell let Duran Duran in to the Hall of Fame). I was hoping that Jason might break out into a Dead song or that David Cook would sing something by the Stones but the evening was good none the less.

David C - Hungry Like a Wolf and Baba O'Riley - I thought the first song was ok - kind of liked the arrangement and I like David C better than Simon Lebon from DD - but without the crazy synthesizers the song misses something. The Who's Baba was good - this is such a hard song to cram into 90 seconds and I wonder if it will not be as popular to his younger fans because this song came out in 71??? Maybe he could have sang "Won't Get Fooled Again" at least people hear that song every week if they watch CSI - Miami. Is it me or is David C cramming every song into a slowed down Chris Cornell version??? I still like him and think he has the most talent and should win.

Syesha - Proud Mary and A Change is Gonna Come - in the beginning I said that Syesha should sing some Tina Turner but I did not like this version - like Baba I think this song is hard to cram in to 90 seconds. It really sounded like a lot of yelling to me. The second song was good and I liked her look (reminded me of Katherine Mc), she was pretty emotional at the end and I think she should get the award for the most improved since the show has been on.

Jason - oh my - do I even have to review Dr Dread? They could cut the show short tonight and just say he is gone - if he beats out Syesha tonight the public opinion is a little skewed. He sang - I Shot The Sheriff and Mr Tambourine Man - two songs that I really like and might be in a top 200 list for me - I have seen both performed in concert (Sheriff was by Eric Clapton) and Jason just bombed on both. The funny thing is - I thought both started ok - but he went very flat on Sheriff and when you forget the lyrics when your in the final 4 you need to go home. Tambourine was ok in the beginning too - maybe he was too nervous after his first bomb. Good bye Jason - see you at a bar in the Keys soon - i will share a boat drink with you and place a tip in your guitar case.

David A - Archie was ok tonight - Stand By Me and Love Me Tender - I thought the first song was good - he was closing his eyes again but I guess that is just something to deal with (no matter to me because I will never see this kid perform again after this show is over) and Love Me Tender was decent - he took an Elvis song (which all are awesome by the way) and changed it to make it his - my feeling is that the women should not sing Whitney and the men should not sing Elvis. he will be back until the end.

One last bit of commentary - I think David C is the best but I think he is screwed - here is why. They always have some cheesy ass ballad as the song they sign during the finals - that plays right into the 27 cheesy ass ballads David A has sang all season - David C might struggle a little with some bad love song. Just my opinion - I think Jason goes home this week, Syesha next and it is between the Davids for the title - I say David wins - hehehehe.
