
Haile Gebrselassie broke the WR for the marathon at the Berlin Marathon and became the first person to ever run under 2:04:00 for the marathon. He set a new record of 2:03:59
that is a pace of just under 4:44 a mile
if you can not conceive this - head to the track and try and run one lap in 1 minute 11 seconds - then think to yourself - you need to run 105 of those laps at the same speed without a break.
4:44 is a 1 minute and 1 second slower than the mile world record
