I Love America...

ok -there are two things in the news lately that got me thinking - not right or worng - just thinking...

1. Orlando - a private citizen in Orlando's Paramore area was paid about $10mm for a parcel of land that measures 1/3 of an acre and has a boarding house and duplex on it. While I have no problem with the Paramore area, land in NYC looking out over Central Park does not go for that kind of premium. Why was this person paid this kind of money??? The new arena for the Magic basketball team. I have nothing against the Magic getting a new arena but maybe if the city was not paying $10mm for a 1/3 of an acre we could build the arena for a reasonable price.

p.s. - do not get me started on the church that was just paid over $28mm for land to build the new performing arts center.

2. U.S. - looks like the goverment has approved a plan to freeze mortgage rates for citizens that agreed (not forced, BUT agreed) to an ARM and their mortgage rate is getting ready to increase - looks like their rates will be frozen at the intro rate for the next 5 years. Ok, these are sub prime loans and have been being defaulted upon for a year or so now - BUT come on man - do not buy the house if you can not afford it - or do not AGREE to an ARM in order to get a low rate for a while and not realize your rates are going to increase and you are going to have to pay at some point.

these two things rank up their with the nice employee that once TOLD me (not asked) that they needed to work more OT because they just bought new house - COME ON MAN - has all accountability gone out the window and where did the common sense go???

thanks for listening
