Random Thoughts from St Anthony's

This is my second year of going to St Anthony's as a spectator. This year Beth and I went over to support (and market) Team Hendryx and to watch the Pro racers tear it up.

Here are some random thoughts from St Anthony's (in no particular order)
-Matt Reed is huge
-this course is flat and fast
-this course is crowded
-there are many athletes that need to practice mounting their bike
-you should not try a flying mount on your bike if you have no experience
-a race is no time to practice new stuff
-it is HOT
-this is a course that you have a good chance of PRing on
-the water was a little rough this year
-the Pro racers can transition like the wind
-I can't imagine running a 32:00 10k after swimming and riding
-lots of wrecks out of T1 because people are stupid
-Tom Z is a nice guy and I liked his beach cruiser
-no kids in the finishing chute of a Olympic distance race (unless some crazy circumstances dictate)
-the last waves get a raw deal
-Kevin C from UF is getting fast

the best observation of all

-we saw a guy that should have his racing privileges revoked - he came out of T1 with his helmet on backwards - make it ten times worse - it was an aero helmet (he should have had a stand down penalty of 5 minutes)
